In Need of a Breath Mint, Perhaps?

Guess who’s back…I bet you missed me.

My sincerest apologies for my delay, darlings. Ms. Gladiatrix will tinker with her writing schedule within the following week.

Today’s topic of discussion delves into a common high school struggle: dating. Tic tac has been pining for Anon since the beginning of the school year, and pining hard. She wants to give her number to Anon, and hopefully ask him out, but she has trouble figuring out what to do. She consulted her friends, who told her to just go for it. Clearly, this advice wasn’t enough, because she’s crawling to Ms. Gladiatrix for help. Don’t worry, darling, Ms. Gladiatrix will give all the advice ever needed.

Before even thinking about diving into a relationship, you need to figure out yourself. What you want, what you like, what you expect from a relationship, and whether or not you’re even ready for a relationship. Tic Tac needs to clarify why she wants to be with this guy. Is it his looks? It can’t be his personality because she hasn’t even spoken to him formally.

Ms. Gladiatrix’s words of wisdom? Tic Tac should give her number to Anon as a friend. She should divert her intentions to getting to know Anon, not immediately trying to dive into a relationship with him. By giving him her number, she’s telling him that she’s interested. By giving it in a friendly way, she’s alleviating the pressure on his end. Playing it cool is playing it safe.

Remember darlings, if it doesn’t work out, it wasn’t meant to be. Submit your questions, concerns, or hot takes on my Spill Here page, and tune in later this week for more from your favorite truth-teller.

Arrivederci,

XOXO, Ms. Gladiatrix.
